Yolanda 'Yogi' Garcia

Yolanda ‘Yogi’ Garcia, age 69, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Waco. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 20th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with The Very Reverend Benjamin Magnaye officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Rosemound Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 19th with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Yogi was born July 23, 1954 in Waco, Texas to Cruz Lopez Garcia Sr. and Petra ‘Betty’ Castillo Garcia. She was a very hard worker and loved Tejano music. Yogi was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leonard and Wallace Garcia.

Yogi is survived by her son, Edward Ortiz; daughters, Antonia Zavala, Marivel Ortiz, and Claudia Ortiz-Hernandez; grandchildren, Lalo Zavala JR, April Zavala, Marcus Zavala, Michael Cook, Justine Zavala, Lanicia Martinez, Gema Hernandez, Layla Verastegui, Cruz Zavala, Giovanny Hernandez, Laticia Ortiz, Aliza Ortiz, Patricia Ortiz; along with eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernest Garcia and Cruz Garcia Jr.; sisters, Dolores Juarez, Danette Washington, Mary Dolores-Perez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
