William Martin

February 2, 1928 — February 4, 2022

William (Bill) H. Martin passed away Friday, February 4, 2022. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 14 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. at Trinidad City Cemetery, 100 W. Eaton St., Trinidad, Texas.

Bill was born in Dallas, Texas, on February 2, 1928. Three days later, he was adopted by his forever parents, Fred and Lillie Martin. He was their only child and was loved beyond compare.

Bill grew up mainly in Texas but did live shortly in Arkansas as a boy. He graduated from Jacksonville High School, and attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, TX, obtaining his Associate of Science Degree. He and his family moved to Malakoff, TX, and at the age of 21, he went to work for Texas Power & Light Co. in Trinidad, TX. While working at the plant, he was introduced to his first love, Ginny Gould, who was bringing her dad his lunch. The rest was history. Bill and Ginny were married on December 19, 1950. They had four children – Marsha, Cathy, Mark, and Chris. He moved his family to Waco, TX, when he was transferred to the Lake Creek Plant there. Bill worked as an Instrument Technician at the Lake Creek and Tradinghouse plants until his retirement in 1990. Bill retired with over 40 years of service to the Texas Power & Light Co.

In 1980, his first love, Ginny Martin, died of a heart attack, leaving him devastated and alone to raise his special needs son, Chris. God had great plans for Bill because that is when he brought, Lillie Roe into his life. They were married on February 6, 1982. Her love and care brought great joy and happiness to his life. They shared a wonderful 40 years of marriage. Lillie gave Bill a Bonus Family with Cindy, Carla, Travis, and Robert.

Bill said he was so blessed to have been loved by two beautiful, spirit-filled women!

People describe Bill as the most consistent Christian they have ever known. He never criticized others. He lived his life as a witness for his Savior, Jesus. He walked in love toward others. Whether on the job or at home, he always led others to Christ. His son-in-law, Charles Moran, calls him his spiritual father. Bill left a Christian Legacy for all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to follow, and his works shall follow him into heaven!

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, wife – Ginny Martin, son – Chris Martin, and grandson – Ethan Martin.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lillie Martin, daughter – Marsha and Charles Moran of Georgetown, TX, daughter – Cathy and Randy Pigman of Bixby, OK, and son- Mark and Jennifer Martin of Blytheville, AR, eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Bonus Family – Cindy and Mark Duncan of Gholson, TX, Carla Roe of Waco, Travis and Carolyn Roe of Flower Mound, Robert and Tracie Roe of Waco, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
