William “Bill” Tilghman, 84, of Bruceville, TX, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Visitation will be from 5 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 7, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. A private graveside service will be held.
Bill was born on April 18, 1938, in Roanoke, Virginia to William Tench and Evelyne Barker Tilghman. He served in the United States Army for two years. Shortly after being honorably discharged, Bill began a career in the soft drink industry and worked for various bottling companies. Bill worked for Big Red, Inc, in Waco for nearly 30 years as Vice President and Technical Director. Bill was community-minded and participated in public service as a city council member in Hewitt and later for the City of Bruceville when he relocated after retirement. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Dr. Pepper Museum.
He is survived by his daughter, Paige Davis and husband Michael, of Blue Eye, MO; son, Matt Tilghman and wife Missy of Crawford; four grandchildren, Ryan Davis of Hewitt, TX, Grace Davis of Blue Eye, MO, Sara and Hannah Tilghman of Crawford, TX; sister, Anne T. Scott and husband, David Scott, M.D. of Fredericksburg, VA; niece Jennifer Scott of Hurley, NY; nephew Will Scott of Denver, CO; and great-niece, Calliope Scott, of Denver, CO.
The family wishes to thank Gina and the staff of the Willow Unit at Wesley Woods for their care.
