William T. (Bill) Aufman, 75, of Robinson, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Hillcrest Medical Center. A visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Drive, Waco, TX from 5-7 p.m. The US Air Force will render military honors at 5:30 p.m.
William was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. To Gerard and Gertrude Aufman. Bill graduated from North Allegheny High School and attended Allegheny Community College. Bill joined the U.S. Air Force being stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin TX where he met his wife Katherine. They were married in 1974 and lived in Pittsburgh while Bill finished college. He graduated from Slippery Rock State College, in Slippery Rock, PA. Bill received a Masters in Education plus 24 hours from Baylor University. Bill's career spanned 26 years with Waco ISD, including assistant principal at University High, and Wiley Middle School and ending at Waco High School as a special education teacher.
He and his wife, Katherine celebrated 50 years of marriage in April of 2024. They and their children enjoyed camping with trips to Niagara Falls, Canada, Mount Rushmore and the Badlands, The Smoky Mountains, and many trips around Texas, including Thanksgiving at Goose Island State Park. In recent years, he and Kathy enjoyed cruises to Mexico, Alaska, Canada, and through the Panama Canal. Bill also traveled to Africa and on a motorcycle trip through Nova Scotia.
Bill was an avid muscle car fan, attending many car shows and cruises. He loved showing his 1978 Nova, winning many trophies with it. He also loved telling stories and talking to everyone.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Joe and Mildred Stanislav, and his brother Tom and wife Joanne. He is survived by his wife Katherine, his brothers Jerry and wife Beverly, Karl and wife Jeanne of Pittsburgh and Joe and wife Judy of Houston. He is also survived by son Matthew and wife Shannon of Monroeville, Pa., and daughter Martha and husband Simon Whitney of Canyon Lake. His grandchildren are William, Leland and Ellis Aufman, and Henry and Abbie Whitney. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
