W.F. ‘Cotton’ Dieterich, 84, of Riesel passed away peacefully Saturday, October 29, 2022. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 8 at Riesel Cemetery, Hwy 6, Riesel. The family will have a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 7 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco.
Cotton was born January 4, 1938 to William and Emma (Huber) Dieterich in Riesel, Texas. He married JoAnn Schroeder on October 25, 1958. Cotton worked for General Tire for 31 years until retirement, then worked at H & H Water Company and McLennan County Sheriff’s Department. His favorite job was his lifetime career as a farmer and rancher. He respected hard work and was a family man. Cotton was a carpenter in the sense that he could build anything and enjoyed doing it. In his early years he loved to go water skiing and taking the boat on the lake. He loved spending time with his granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Dieterich, Carl Dieterich, Bill Dieterich; sisters, Lillie Neumann and Erna Mae Neumann.
Cotton is survived by his wife of 64 years, JoAnn Dieterich; son, Steve Dieterich and wife Denaria; granddaughter, Stephanie Coker and husband Matthew; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Providence Hospice in memory of Cotton.
