Wesley Grube 86, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Ridgecrest Nursing Care Center. A graveside service will be 10 am, Saturday, July 20, at Waco Memorial Park with Pastor Don Cooper officiating. The family will receive visitors Friday, from 6-8 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr.
Wesley was born October 10, 1926 in Falls County, Texas to William A. and Louise Schroeder Grube. Wesley graduated from Marlin High School. From 1944 to 1946, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps with Marine Detachment on the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill and the H.B. Freeman Coast Guard transport ship. Following overseas duty he was a Drill Instructor at Parris Island South Carolina until his discharge.
Wesley married Ruth Henderson in Waco, TX, on September 14, 1947. He served his community as a member of the Golinda Fire Department and St. John United Church of Christ. He was employed at Cameron Mills for five years, General Tire and Rubber Company for thirty-one years, and Germania Insurance, as an agent before retirement.
Wesley enjoyed working with horses and trail rides. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, Justin. He will be remembered as a loyal, loving husband; father; granddad; and true friend to everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilburn Grube, Bill Grube and John Grube; sister, Lucille Itson; wife, Ruth Grube.
Wesley is survived by his daughter, Sandra Overcast and husband Larry; grandson, Justin Overcast and wife Dana; grandchildren, Miranda and Mallori Overcast, and extended family.
The family wishes to thank the care givers of Bluebonnet Health Services (Hospice Team) and Ridgecrest for daily assistance.
