Wanda Marie Bolfing-Blackburn, “Nanny”, of Waco, TX, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2015. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, April 11 from 3-5pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. in Waco.
Wanda was born February 5, 1930, in Waco, TX to Clarence and Katie Dawson. She married the love of her life, Jimmy Bolfing on April 16, 1949. They lived a very happy life together, until he was suddenly taken from this earth way too soon. They had 3 children together, one of which died soon after birth. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Wanda “Nanny” to all, was known for her wonderful cooking, especially desserts. She loved to be in the kitchen cooking for the family. When she wasn’t cooking, she loved to be out in the yard, sitting on the porch watching the birds and enjoying the beautiful yard she kept. Her greatest joy in life was her family and friends. When it came to Nanny, you knew you were loved more than words could say, her door was always open and there was always food on the table, just in case someone happened to drop by. After Mr. Bolfing’s death, Wanda later married Freddie Blackburn. She was also employed as a baker in the cafeteria at M & M Mars for many years.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Bolfing; husband Freddie Blackburn; infant son, Mark Allen Bolfing; and brother, Claude Dawson.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Farnes and husband Rob of Waco; son, Randy Bolfing and wife Shirley of Moody; grandchildren, Cindy Cooper of Waco, Jason Honey of Waco, Michael Bolfing of Laredo, Brian Bolfing of Crawford and Jessica Strube and husband Lee of Burleson; great-grandchildren, Preston and Dawson Cooper, Megan and Lauren Honey, Aubrey and Koregan Strube; and three step grandchildren, Hayden, Faith and Maya Strube.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the care Wanda received at St. Catherine’s Nursing Home, in the last year of her life. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
