Troy Rivers

Troy B Rivers, 98, of Waco, formerly of Prairie Hill, died March 31, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be 2 pm, Thursday, April 4 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. with Rev. Carroll Hambrick officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Troy was born November 6, 1914 in Prairie Hill, Texas the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Rivers. He served in WW2 as a Sergeant in the Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He married Ruby Lucille Yates of Waco in 1948. He worked at the Waco VA Hospital as an orderly for 35 years. He was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist church where he served as Deacon and on numerous committees.
Troy was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Lucille, son Mark Lamar, granddaughter, Angela Mikell, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Leatherman of Ohio, Kathy Lynch of Midlothian and Gayla Berry of Waco; one sister, Bonnie Dickey of Waco; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at Providence Hospice or Waco Humane Society.
