Thomas L. Sanders, 89, of Robinson passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2021 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1207 N. Old Robinson Rd, with Dr. Cary Killough officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Dr., Waco.
Tommy was born in Marlin, Tx to Lester Sanders and Lela Mae Whorton Sanders. Tommy was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church for over 50 years. Tommy wore many hats at church including Royal Ambassador leader, Deacon, Young Married Couples teacher, and Adult Four director.
Tommy was a Signalman on an LST (Landing Ship, Tank) in the Navy in the Korean War. He was a TV repairman until TV’s no longer had tubes. He also worked for Wm Cameron Mills for 35 years until it closed. He then returned to school, got his GED and received his certification in woodworking and surveying at TSTI.
After graduating from TSTI, he became a currier for Scott and White until he retired where he met and became friends with many. He loved people, wood working, fishing, and camping with family and friends, but most of all he loved The Lord.
He was married to Belle Hamby Sanders until her death in 2008; and later was married to Betty Smith Sanders until her death. He is preceded in death by his parents, two wives, daughter Vicki Lynn Sanders and grandson Craig.
He is survived by his son Mel Sanders and wife Paula, daughter Leslie Sanders Turner and husband Ricky. Grandchildren Chad Reese, Terry West and wife Laura, Rachel West Gaston and husband James, Sean Lawson and wife Molly, Paul Lawson and wife Jessica, Darren Turner, Kristen Turner. Great grandchildren Kiley Gaston, Kaden Gaston, Aurora (Rory) Gaston, Tristan West, Simone Lawson, Brent Lawson and a host of friends and family.
Donations can be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church or Alzheimer Foundation in memory of Tommy.
