Tommie L. Vickers, 87, of Waco, passed away Wednesday April 3, 2019. Tommie was born November 9, 1931, to Thomas and Margaret Hansen French, in Waco, TX. She worked as a PBX operator for many years at SMI. She also owned and operated “The Canteen” in Waco. Tommie loved time spent with family and friends; she especially enjoyed shopping. She could never pass up a good deal and knew exactly when and where to find the best sales on her favorite things, which most often was shoes. She also loved dancing, whether at home with her kids and grandkids, or on the dance floor at The Canteen. She would also make trips with friends to the horse races in Louisiana.
Tommie was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy and Louise French; her first husband, Thomas Gregory; and her second husband Cas Vickers. She is survived by her son, Steve Gregory and wife Marcia; son, Brian Gregory; daughter, Dana Gregory; sisters, Alma Bratton and Harriet Covington and husband Larry; grandchildren, Jake Gregory and wife Savannah and Austin Gregory and wife Nikki; and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Tate, Elliot, Nash, and Easton.
