Steve Coleman

John Steven Coleman aka Steve (Papa Smurf), 73, passed away at St. Catherine’s in Waco, TX, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. He was proceeded in death by his son John Michael Coleman.

Steve was born on January 29, 1948, in Waco, Texas, to Robert H. and Vera L Coleman. He served as a Marine from 1968-1972. Steve served as president for the Texas Field Archery Association, as well as co-founder and president for the Huaco Bowmen Archery Range in Waco, National Field Archery Association director and is a retiree from OI Illinois Glass plant. His children are Stephan Ray, John Michael and Jennifer Weir. Grandchildren, Jonathan Coleman, Lindsey Coleman, Sean Coleman, Kayla Broadbent, Shanna Weir and Madeline Weir, Great grandchildren, Zoey Rodriguez, Jonathan Carter Coleman, Dexter Wyatt Evan Coleman, and Jada Aalizay Washington.

Visitation will be held at Pecan Grove in Robinson on September 14, 2021 from 12-2pm. Services will immediately follow from 2pm-3pm. After services the family would like his friends to gather at Last Chance in Bellmead to celebrate his life.
