Stephen Richard

Stephen Allen Richard, 48, of Austin, TX, formerly of Waco, TX, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 27, at Waco Memorial Park, with Rev. Robert Buchanan officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the graveside service, beginning at 10:30 a.m., at the cemetery.

Steve was born August 8, 1973, in Dallas, TX, to Ralph E. Richard, Sr., and Sara Allen Richard. He graduated from Bosqueville High School in 1991 and soon after joined the US Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS John F. Kennedy.

When Steve was six years old, his family moved to Honduras to serve as missionaries for 7 1/2 years. He quickly became friends with the Honduran children and became fluent in the Spanish language which he used the rest of his life. Steve did many things in his life, including caring for his grandparents and for his dad after a hospitalization. Steve was incredibly witty and kept his family in stitches at family gatherings. He ALWAYS had a snappy comeback. He will be greatly missed, which is an understatement.

Steve was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Charlotte Allen; his paternal grandparents, Carl and Elmer Richard; and his infant sister, Susan Elaine Richard.

He is survived by his parents, Ralph, Sr. and Sara Richard; sister, Lynn Brown; brother, Ralph Richard, Jr.; nieces and nephews, Zachary Brown, Kate Brown, Trey Richard, Cody Richard, and Julia Richard.
