Sophia (Lisa) Ramirez, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Waco, Texas on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the age of 52.
Lisa’s Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Calvary Chapel Church, 702 N. 18th Street, Waco.
Lisa was born on October 31, 1969 in Dallas, Texas to Irene and Julian Ramirez. Lisa attended Bryan Adams High School and graduated in 1988. Lisa joined the work force straight out of high school and found her first work home at Dallas City Hall. She especially enjoyed days working for the City of Dallas in several different departments for many years. Lisa left the City to follow in her mom, uncle Joe and cousin Joey’s footsteps to work for the United States Post Office. Lisa worked several years for the Post Office before she had to leave to start on a path of being an in-home caregiver. She served and cared for several family members over the years including Papa Juan, her step-mom Linda and her mother Irene. Lisa moved to Waco with her mother Irene and brother Julian in 2015. She worked for Waco ISD for two years. Lisa loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed concerts, The State Fair of Texas, Texas OU weekend in Dallas, car shows, cruising, hanging out at White Rock Lake, roller blading, flying kites, riding bikes, fishing and feeding the ducks. She enjoyed the outdoors, boating, riding horses, lighting fireworks and sitting by a fire. She enjoyed classic rock, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s music, playing pool and the Dallas Cowboys. Celebrating her birthday was a family favorite because it was on Halloween and we always had huge Halloween themed birthday parties. She enjoyed movies, watching sports and addicted to the weather channel and world news. In her spare-time she enjoyed hanging out in the backyard spending time at the fire pit burning branches, calling friends talking on the phone to catch up and loving on her adopted cat “Jimmy”.
Lisa is survived by her mother, Irene Covarrubias Ramirez; her father, Julian Yglecias Ramirez and wife Linda, and their granddaughter Jennifer; brother, Julian Ramirez Jr., his daughter, Delores and son Julian; brother, Gregory McKinney, his son, Jacob and daughter, Jordan; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sophia Lisa is preceded in death by her step-father, Gil Valencia; grandfather, Juan Covarrrubias; and grandmother, Delores Serrato Covarrubias; uncles, Joe Covarrubias, and Juan Alonzo Covarrubia; grandfather, Frank Ramirez; grandmother, Elvira Yglecias Ramirez.
Her family paid this tribute to her,” Lisa was a beautiful person inside and out. She was outgoing, loved to laugh, and loved with all her heart. Lisa was a caregiver that was always willing to help friends and family. She loved her Papa Juan dearly and would always have a memory to share of him. She will forever be in our hearts and she will forever be missed. We love you Lisa.
