Sidney Ray Allen

Sidney Allen, 93, of McGregor, Texas, received his angel wings on March 17, 2025.  Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church, McGregor.

Sidney was born in McGregor, Texas, on August 7, 1931. He was the son of the late Joe (Landis) and Inez (Fegett) Allen. After graduating from McGregor High School, he attended Texas A&M in College Station and was in the Reserve Officer’s Training Program. After obtaining his degree in Agriculture, he served in the armed forces as a reserve commissioned officer and was promoted to first lieutenant.

Sidney worked until retirement as a food and dairy inspector for the Texas Department of Health. He loved the outdoors and spent his early retirement years working in the cattle business and his later years in the sheep and goat business. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, reading, and working on puzzles, especially Sudoku puzzles.

On October 6, 1956, Sidney married the love of his life, Geraldine (Gerri) Allen, and together they shared a strong and enduring bond for 66 years until her passing. Sidney adored his grandchildren who admired their Papa’s wisdom and kind spirit. Sidney was known as a very principled, humble and loving man to his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memories include two daughters, Beverly Henry and husband, Scott, Sharon Trahan, and husband Billy, one son, Clifford Allen, grandchildren Christopher Trahan, Ross Henry, Dean Henry, Jacob Trahan, and Sofia Guadarama, brother and sister-in laws Yvonne Schmalreide, Albertine Hendrickson, Larry & Kay Hoehn and Charles Hoehn, lots of nieces and nephews and many beloved family and friends. He is proceeded in death by his wife Geraldine, his parents Joe & Inez Allen, brother Richard Allen.

The family would like to thank the Enhabit Hospice at Austin nurses, including his attending nurse, Brian, for all their love and support.

And thank you to the caregivers who provided such quality care.
