Shevaun Farrell Melvin

Shevaun Farrell Melvin was born on July 9, 1962 in Garland, Texas. She was welcomed into her eternal home on January 26, 2025 in Waco Texas, ultimately succumbing to conflicting medical conditions. She was 62 years old. 

Shevaun was raised in Mesquite, Texas and after graduating from North Mesquite High School, she married and gave birth to her only child, Jeremy. Jeremy had many physical and developmental issues, but Shevaun met those challenges with love and devotion. Jeremy gave her a greater purpose as she cared for him for the twenty-five years he was here on earth. Shevaun worked for United American Insurance Company in Dallas, before moving to Bruceville, Texas, where she would live out the remaining years of her life.

Shevaun was a strong-willed individual with many interests. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had an eye for details, and loved fashion and recipes. Shevaun had a love for all animals, especially kittens. Shevaun had a quick wit, and a sharp tongue at times, but you always knew where you stood with her. Shevaun could also be very childlike and if her life had a color, it would have been hot pink with glitter and songbirds. Music set a tone for Shevaun. It gave her solace as she sang along, reminding her of life and lessons. Ultimately, helping in leading her to a deep-rooted faith in Jesus.

Shevaun was proceeded in death by her father, Wiiliam H. Tuerck, her mother, Carol J. Poulson, and her son, Jeremy Melvin. As well, as her grandparents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her sister, Sheryl Shaw, and her husband David, brother, Billy Tuerck, and his wife Dorinda, partner and admirer, Reynold Saive. As well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr, Waco, Texas 76706. Visitation will be held at 10am and the service will follow at 11am. 

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital.
