Ruth Marie Young, age 59, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 in Temple, Texas.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm at Pecan Grove funeral home on Thursday, January 4th, with private services to be held at a later date.
Ruth was born March 8, 1958, in Waco, Texas, to Ernest Jacob and Nina Ruth (Sorrells) Whitlow. She attended Sanger Avenue Elementary, Tennyson Junior High, and Midway High School, where she graduated in 1976. She loved sports and played volleyball and softball in high school. After graduation, she worked primarily in banking, starting out as a teller and working her way up to becoming a loan officer. Later she worked at L3 Corporation. On occasions, she also sold products for Home Interiors and for Southern Living at Home. Ruth was known as industrious and hard-working, friendly and outgoing, kind-hearted and generous. She took great pleasure in helping and doing things for others: friends and co-workers as well as clients. She was talented, creative, and resourceful. At various times, she lived in Biloxi, MS; San Antonio, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Waco, TX; Burleson, TX; and finally in Gatesville, TX ... but she always considered Waco as her “home.”
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her two sons: Keith Schroeder of Waco, and Mark Schroeder and wife, Chelsea, of Seattle, Washington; one granddaughter, Owyn Schroeder; sisters, Marsha Lee of Gatesville and Margaret Gauntt of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gatesville Care Center, 105 North 7th, Gatesville, TX 76528.
