Ruth Simons

Ruth Delores Simons, 80, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Thursday, February 7, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124
Robinson Dr., Waco, with Marty Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The
family will receive visitors from 6-8pm Wednesday Feb. 6, at the funeral home.
Ruth was born June 30, 1938 to James Daniel and Betty Helen Merritt. She married Howard
William Simons on February 12, 1954 and they enjoyed 47 years together before his passing in
2000. Ruth worked as the Operations Manager for the Waco Kmart for 35 years until her
retirement in 1999. She enjoyed her retirement years playing bingo, but especially by spending
time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Simons, Sr.; parents;
great-grandson, Cameron Garland; and three siblings.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Pam Roberts and husband, Darrell, Paula Jones and
husband, Dana; son, Howard Simons, Jr. and fiance Teresa; sister, Margaret Griffin; brother,
Jerry Merritt; grandchildren, Bubba Garland and wife Krystal, Amanda Hatten and husband
Archie, Amy Simons, Brandon Tate and wife Malissa, Darrell Roberts Jr., and Tanner Tate, seventeen
great-grandchildren,one great-great granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Interim Home Health and Hospice services and
Veronica Patrick for taking such wonderful care of Ruth.
