Russell Don Stone, of Waco and formerly of Fort Collins, Colorado, went to be with the Lord after battling a long illness, on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. The family will receive friends, Friday, June 13, 2014, from 5-7 p.m., at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr. Services will be 10 am, Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 1207 N Old Robinson Rd., with Pastors, Cary Killough, David Cozart, and Don Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Russell was born on July 29, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the second child of Clarence G. Stone and Pauline L. Stone. He graduated the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri in 1966 with a Bachelors of Science in Speech Therapy. He was employed by the City of Fort Collins Water Department for 28 years. He also served as the Music Minister and Senior Adult Minister at Southside Baptist Church for 11 years as well as serving as a deacon at several churches. After retiring, and moving to Waco, Texas, he worked as an attendant at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco for four years. He also volunteered at Meals on Wheels in Waco.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Ellen Stone; his daughter, Kari Walker and husband, Bill; four grandchildren, Emily, Elise, John, and Ella of Mansfield, Texas; mother, Pauline, and brother, Keith Stone and wife, Karen of Overland Park, Kansas.
