Ruby Dean Lawson of Waco, formerly of Riesel, passed away November 20, 2015 at the age of 85. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Mon. Nov. 23, 2015 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with interment to follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors Sun. Nov. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruby was born July 26, 1930 to George Elcie and Amma Alice Smith in Hamilton Co, Texas. Ruby graduated from Pottsville High School in 1948. She married John Edward Lawson on July 14, 1951 in Hamilton, Texas. They lived in Riesel for 46 years and later moved to Waco. She worked alongside her husband at their farm in Riesel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Evelyn.
Survivors include a daughter; Brenda Anderson, and a son; James; two grandchildren, Chris and Tiffany Anderson; two Great-Grandchildren, Amelia and Antonio; brother Avery Smith; two sisters, Juanita Snider and Elwanda Barcroft; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers please make a memorial to the New Road Church of Christ, as Ruby was a long term member, or Seattle Children’s Hospital, 4800 Sand Point Way, Seattle, WA 98105.
