Lois Grusendorf, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in College Station. Services will be held Saturday, Oct 24 at 1 PM at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, with Reverend David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetary. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Friday, October 23 at Pecan Grove.
Ruby Lois Grusendorf was born April 17, 1917 to Mary Cathryn Proctor and James Thomas Sanders in Spur, TX. After the early death of her mother and twin brother, she lived with her paternal grandparents. For 40 years, Lois made her home in Waco, where she raised her four children after the death of husband in 1950. Lois became a successful interior decorator for Sears and Reece Interiors. She was a member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, where her son Tommy Grusendorf currently serves as a deacon. Lois moved to Arlington in 1989, to be near her oldest son, former State Rep. Kent Grusendorf, and youngest son, Brent, who lived in nearby Carrollton. She was a member of Republican Women, the Eastern Star, and Fielder Road Baptist Church. In 1999, she moved to Bryan/College Station to be near her daughter, Lorice. She became an active member of First Baptist , Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ruben Louis Sanders, her husband Monroe Maurice Grusendorf, Jr. and eldest grandson Darryl Kent Grusendorf, Jr.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her brother Johnny Sanders and wife Terry of Pueblo, Colorado; her children: Kent Grusendorf and wife Elise of Austin; Tommy Grusendorf and wife Janell of Waco; Lorice Pinney and husband Roby of College Station; and Brent Grusendorf of Dallas.
Grandchildren: Susanne Kuhn and husband John, Della Grusendorf, Chris Diamond and wife Mary, John Diamond and wife Cheryl, Joanna Lammerts and husband Cale, Tracy Pierce and husband Alan, James Grusendorf, and 14 great grandchildren.
