Ruben Marmolejo, 67, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on January 13, 2024, in Waco, Texas.
Ruben was born on September 8, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas. He was a hard worker who took great pride in his work. For many years, Ruben worked at Firestone, where he specialized in tire maintenance. Even after retiring from Firestone, Ruben continued to work part-time at the local laundromat, where he displayed his strong work ethic and dedication.
Outside of work, Ruben had a vibrant personality and a positive outlook on life. He was known for his sense of humor and enjoyed joking around with others. Ruben loved to kick back and relax, often barbecuing and watching cooking shows. Family gatherings were a cherished time for Ruben, as he enjoyed the company of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a close bond with his dogs and would often treat them to hamburgers and ice cream cones from Dairy Queen or McDonald's.
Ruben had a passion for football, with the Dallas Cowboys being his favorite team. He also liked to go to H-E-B, where he would engage in friendly banter with the ladies.
Ruben is survived by his older brother, Fred Marmolejo, from Idalou, Texas, as well as his brothers, Joe Marmolejo from Idalou, Texas, Eddie Marmolejo from Lubbock, Texas, Steve Marmolejo from Lubbock, Texas and Richard Marmolejo from Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his sisters, Christine Rodriguez, Alice Marmolejo, and Missy Marmolejo, all from Lubbock, Texas. Ruben will be deeply missed by his daughter, Ida Pesina, and his son, Danny Marmolejo, both from Waco, Texas. He is also survived by his grandsons, Ray Marmolejo from Lubbock, Texas, Richard Bernal, Matthew Rios, JJ Rios, Santana Pesina, Rudy Marmolejo, Chris Marmolejo, Moses Marmolejo, Ben Marmolejo, Mia Marmolejo, and Noah Marmolejo, all from Waco, Texas. Additionally, Ruben is survived by 22 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruben Marmolejo will be remembered as a hardworking individual who approached life with a positive attitude. His dedication to his work and his love for his family and dogs will forever be cherished. May his soul rest in peace.
