Roy Joe Schronk, 91, of Lorena, TX, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1301 Hogan Ln, Waco, TX, with Rev. Larry Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, 718 HCR 3424 E., Malone, TX. The family will receive visitors from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 3, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Roy was born January 11, 1930 to Henry Schronk and Mattie (Pirkle) Schronk, in Hill County, TX. He married Ruth E. Adler on December 10, 1949 in Hillsboro, TX. He was actively involved with his family and his activities with St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead. He was proud of his work in helping construct the Whitney Dam. Roy worked at Ethyl Corporation in Pasadena, TX for 35 years. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Harris County and was with surveillance of Hurricane Carla. Roy was also an avid fan of country music and guitar. His family members remember him as a generous and big-hearted man who loved to tell stories and spend time with family and friends.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Ruth E. Schronk; his parents; his brother, Ed Schronk; sister, Merle Ferguson; sister, Ruby Parsons; and grandson Matthew Wiseman.
Survivors include his sister, Bonna Schronk Loewe; children, Wanda Wiseman-Houston and husband Peter; Gregory Schronk and wife Cheryl, and Leonard Schronk and wife Karen; grandchildren Christian Schronk and wife Jolyn, David Wiseman-Armitage and wife Lacey; Sarah Wiseman, William Wiseman and wife Alissa, Joseph Wiseman, Trevor Schronk and wife Jennifer, Katrina Grubbs, Kathryn Schronk and Emily Hills; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Piper, Dasia, Trevor, Jr., Alecs, Justin, Bailey, Michael, and Ellie Ruth.
