We announce with great sorrow the passing of Rosa Lee Wetzel, 85, of McGregor, TX. Her last days were spent being spoiled and loved for in the comfort of her daughter's home in Crawford, TX, surrounded by loved ones.
Rosa was born on February 23, 1939 in Waco, TX, to parents Ruby Lee Brunson and Edgar Thomas Tate.
Rosa shared her life with her beloved husband, Wilbur Lee Wetzel, whom she married on June 6, 1959 in Waco, TX. They had 5 daughters together, and recently celebrated 65 years of immense love and dedication for one another.
Rosa's faith in God started at a very young age. Her and Wilbur instilled that faith into their girls with their devotion to the Church. Rosa's serving heart went beyond the Church and into the home raising their daughters together. Rosa owned her own business doing residential and commercial cleaning and even helping Wilbur at times with his painting contract work. She could keep a house as clean as a whistle and was always re-decorating. Together, Rosa and Wilbur developed a passion in flipping homes and bringing both of their skills to the forefront.
Rosa was also an amazing cook. You haven't had "the best" holiday meal until you've had one of hers. Her biggest passion of all was being around her family. Whether that be for holidays, quick visits, or even over a meal, nothing gave her more joy than being around those that she loved.
Rosa was proceeded in death by her parents, Ruby and Edgar; a daughter, Vicki Lee Wetzel; and siblings, Helen Cross, James Tate, Thomas Tate, Darlene Jackson, Lynn Booth and Randy Booth.
Left to cherish her memories is her beloved husband of 65 years, Wilbur Lee Wetzel; 4 loving daughters, Marsha Baucom and husband, Fisher of McGregor, Gina Dennard of Woodway, Leann Judge and husband, Timothy of Woodway, Melissa Richter and husband, Chris of Crawford.
Also surviving Rosa are her 9 cherished grandchildren, Denise Gunn and husband Jeff, Alicia Teakell, Cody Baucom, Kimberly Nichols, Charly Bumpus, Casey Terry, Christa Trotter and husband William, Jorden Culp and husband Forrest, Chantz Judge and wife Jessika; and 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. WE LOVE YOU, NANNY!
Another survivor of Rosa is her tiny Chihuahua, Angel, whom she loved greatly over a decade. Angel never left Rosa's side in her last moments, keeping her warm with love as her best companion.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10am, Friday, February 14, 2025 at River City Church in Waco, TX.
Pallbearers will be Tim Judge, Chris Richter, Noah Nichols, Joshua Gunn, Tanner Teakell and Chantz Judge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fisher Baucom and Owen Wiley. They Will have the honor of carrying our beloved Rosa to her final resting place at the Crawford Cemetery in Crawford, TX.
Our hearts will forever hold a void, but we will always cherish our beautiful memories, family traditions, and strong faith that Rosa instilled in us all. To know Rosa is to love her, but oh how fortunate we are to have been loved by her.
