Richard Glynn Weems, 77, of Waco, TX, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24, with Pastor Mike Raines officiating, at Antioch Cemetery, FM 1364, Fairfield, TX.
Richard was born June 18, 1943, in Coushatta, Louisiana, to James David and Ruby Creel Weems. After graduating high school in Sweeny, TX, Richard attended the IBEW Local Electrical Apprenticeship School in Houston, TX for 4 years. He then worked for Dow Chemical in Freeport, TX. He also worked for Fischbach and Moore Electrical Company in Houston. Richard also owned and managed a landscaping business in Katy, TX, for 19 years working for large property development companies.
Richard was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, TX. He was a born again Christian and a man of strong faith. He especially loved listening to gospel music every night. Richard loved his family dearly. He enjoyed times with friends and family and being with his grandchildren; he prayed for them daily. His favorite times were spent with Sharon and driving his red truck and his green John Deere tractor on his son-in-law, Brian’s, property in Crawford, TX.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Weems; son, Richard David Weems; and daughter, Doreen Elaine Weems Mattson.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Weems; son, Daryl Glynn Weems and wife Suzanne; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Rodney Weems and wife Billie.
