Richard Schaefer

Richard Ray Schaefer, Sr, 82, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 in Woodway. Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, April 19 at Oakwood Cemetery 2124 South 5th Street, Waco, with Lee B.C. Davis officiating. Services will be under the direction of Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Richard was born January 27, 1934 to Richard Henry and Nettie Mae Baker Schaefer. He married Hiawatha Kimbrell January 7, 1956 in Waco and spent their entire marriage loving her unconditionally. Richard was a tire builder, working at General Tire for 20 years. He was best known for his love of flea markets and junking all sorts of things. Richard loved to travel, especially if it involved junking. His friends would tell you he was the most honest man they know.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, B.J. Baker.
Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hiawatha; children, Richard Schaefer, Jr and wife, Billie, Kerry Schaefer; grandchildren, Shelley Cano and husband, Nick, Kimberly Schaefer, Whitney Schaefer; great-grandchildren, Cade and Colby Cano; along with a large extended family.
