Reiko Boyett of Waco passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at the age of 90, on her sixty-first wedding anniversary. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home Chapel, 3124 Robinson Dr. with Rev. Jerry Freedman officiating. Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boyett was born June 14, 1927 in Sendai, Japan, where she was a 1945 graduate of Sendai High School. She moved to Texas and earned her teacher assistant certificate from McLennan Community College. For almost ten years, she was employed by Waco Independent School District as a teacher’s assistant until her retirement in 1996.
On Jan. 24, 1957, she married Alton Boyett in Sendai, Japan. Throughout her life, she enjoyed oil painting, sewing and knitting. She also enjoyed gardening, especially Japanese gardening and watching her grandchildren play sports.
She was a founding member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church International wife’s Club of which she was a forty year member of. She was a member of the Robinson Church of Christ.
Preceding her in death were her parents Fukyoshi and Kim Saito; a brother, Hiroshi Saito and a sister, Nobuko Saito.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Alton Boyett; three sons, Jimmy Boyett and wife Laurie, Rick Boyett and wife Laura, David Boyett and wife Tammy; a daughter, Susan Olle and twelve grandchildren.
