Raymond Trujillo

Raymond Baltazar Trujillo, 78, resident of Meridian, TX, passed away on May 4, 2023, just one week shy of his 60-year anniversary. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco. Burial will follow at Meridian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, at the funeral home.

Raymond was born on June 22, 1944, to Madgaleno A. Trujillo and Esther B. Trujillo, both of whom preceded him in death. Richard Trujillo, a brother, also preceded him in death. On May 11, 1963, Raymond married Rosemary Vasquez and from this union they had one daughter, Angela Renee. Raymond lived in Meridian since the age of 2 and was a graduate of Meridian High School in 1962. He started to work as a butcher at the Meridian Frozen Foods Locker Plant. His skills set in this trade made him follow a career path to becoming eventual owner of the same business establishment. Raymond, along with his wife Rosemary, enjoyed dancing, competing in cars shows, the Dallas Cowboys, the Baylor Bears, attending concerts, dining with family, and making others laugh. Raymond was very quick-witted with a keen sense of humor. His captivating smile and laughter are enduring memories that his family will cherish. He was also a very hard-working role model to many individuals that looked up to him as an ideal father figure and mentor.

Raymond had a philanthropic heart and always gave back to his beloved community through donations, benefit attendance and volunteering. He helped organize multiple car show benefits for others suffering from catastrophic illnesses. Raymond was also a volunteer with the National BBQ Cook Off in Meridian, and helped organize car shows at this event for people to enjoy. As you can see, most of his work on earth was with car shows. He truly lived for attending as many shows as he could. He also helped judging cars shows, donated door prizes/trophies and even shared his knowledge of how to run a successful car show with others to carry on his legacy. Due to his and his wife’s, Rosemary, benevolent nature, they were awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Meridian Chamber of Commerce.

Loved ones left to mourn him include Rosemary Trujillo, Angela “Renee” Trujillo, Robin Stine, Lina and Darrell Lyons, Joe and Pam Felan and family, and special family that nicknamed him “Pappy”, Tanci, Remi and Raylee Hommel; many other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends also are mourning his loss.

Special thanks to all the staff at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest ER, Medical ICU, and 4 North for the excellent care they provided for our loved one during his brief illness. The family is forever grateful, and we will always remember you in our prayers.
