Raymond L. Rodriguez, 80, of Waco, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, August 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2621 Bagby Ave, Waco, with Rev. Benjamin Magnaye acting as celebrant. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 2 with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco.
Raymond was born on August 24, 1936, in Waco, Texas to Juan and Consuelo Rodriguez. He married Janie Gomez, the love of his life and had 6 children. He worked for Dana Corporation as a Material Handler for many years until he retired. He enjoyed watching Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and WWE Smackdown. He loved listening to music and making people laugh. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and eating Jack in the box and Church’s Chicken.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Rodriguez; sons, Christoper Rodriguez and Johnny Ray Rodriguez; brother, Joe V. Rodriguez; sister, Mary Rodriguez; Dad, Juan Rodriguez and Mom, Consuelo Rodriguez.
Raymond is survived by his sisters, Irene and husband Peter Calderon, Becky Schoonover, Lupe Carmona, Gloria Guardiola, and brother, Ralph and wife Minga Rodriguez; children, Marshall and Pauline Rodriguez, Anthony Rodriguez and Loretta Kirk, Patricia and Mike Cervantez, and Sonya Rodriguez and Gilbert Orta Jr.; numerous grandkids and great grandchildren.
Pall bearers will be Michael Cervantez Jr., Anthony Rodriguez Jr., Johnny Ray Rodriguez Jr., Justin Brooks, Paul Marshall Rodriguez, and David Rodriguez. Honorary pall bearer will be Jacob Alex Rodriguez.
The family would like to thank everyone at Texas Home Health for the loving care of our father during his time on hospice. Special thanks to Tammy, Genie, Julie, Carolyn and Angel.
