Raymond Glenn Browning, 70, of New Caney, Texas, passed away on Aug.27, 2017 in a Temple hospital. Services will be 10:30 am Saturday September 2, 2017 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., with Pastor David Cozart officiating. A private family burial will take a place at a later date. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service starting at 9:30 am at the funeral home.
Glenn was born May 30, 1947 in Waco to E. W. and Jean (Lawson) Browning. He was raised in Waco and graduated from University High School in 1965. He attended Navarro Jr. College in Corsicana, TX. He graduated from Baylor University in 1970 with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Anthropology and earned his teaching credentials at the University of Texas in Austin. Glenn taught school in Killeen, Cameron, New Caney and Kingwood, TX. After a career of 29 years in education, he retired in 2005. Glenn married Connie Cohrt in 1973 in Waco. Glenn was an avid collector of guns and military medals. He was a member of the Waco Gun Club and the Houston Gun Collectors Association. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Jean Browning and his daughter Sarah Caroline Browning.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Connie Cohrt Browning, son: John S. Browning of Waco, and daughter Laura Browning Staiger and husband Christopher of Martinsburg, WV.Two grandchildren, Mark and Claire Staiger of WV., He is survived by his sister Wanda Melton Barnhart of Lorena and two nieces, Jessie Melton-Robinson (Andy) and Kelly Melton (Chris), two great nieces and two great nephews.
