Ray Luckett passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 12, 2016, at the age of 74. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2016 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr, Waco, Texas. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Deryl LeBlanc officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Ray was born on July 16, 1942 in Kentucky the son of the late George Thomas and Helen Mae (McBride) Luckett. He graduated from Amelia High School in Batavia, Ohio and then continued his education at Troy State University in Troy Alabama. Ray joined the United States Army in 1958 and served his country for 22 years. On December 9, 1966 Ray married his best friend and the love of his life, Linda Thomas, in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after his retirement from the Army in 1980 he and his family moved to Waco, Texas where he continued his trade in aviation. He worked for Ram Aircraft for 8 years before going to work for what is now known as L3 until his retirement in 2014 after 22 years of service.
Ray was a generous man who worked hard, loved his family and friends and took great pride in being a Papaw.
Ray was preceded in death by his dad, George Thomas Luckett, his mom, Helen Luckett and his brother, George Thomas Luckett, Jr. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Linda; two daughters, Jeni Sykora and her husband, Danny of Lorena; Lisa Luckett of Waco and eleven grandchildren.
