Randy Northern

September 16, 1941 — February 2, 2014

Randall Allen Northern, age 72, passed away peacefully in his home on February 2, 2014. A memorial visitation for family and friends will be held at Pecan Grove Funeral Home on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 1pm to 3pm.
Randy was born in Frost, TX to loving parents Allen Blake and Evelyn Fae Northern. He is survived by his beloved boxer Kaddie; his son Blake Northern and wife Chris; his daughter Kimberly Nye and husband Jay; his grandchildren Amanda Cunningham and husband Matt, Randall Northern and wife Abigail, Scott Nye and Chelsey Northern; and four great-grandchildren. Also, a brother Larry Northern and wife Vicki; nieces Breeanne Leonard and Robin Cohagen and their families; the loving mother of his children Sue Jett; dear friend Ronnie Davis and wife Phyllis; nieces Tonya and Shelley Davis; as well as many friends and extended family.
Randy was a skilled athlete in many sports and most notably a talented baseball player. While coaching Blake’s little league team in the 70s, he met Jerry Nye with whom he started a local printing company, Northern & Nye. Over the past thirty-six years, the family owned and operated organization has continued to maintain a strong local business presence. Randy also spent some of his most special years traveling the United States as a professional B.A.S.S. fisherman.
Randy was a handsome and charming man, even in his late years. He lived his life with a strong sense of dignity and an equally strong sense of humor. As much as he enjoyed laughing, he found even more joy in making others laugh. With a sharp mind and an unmatched competitive spirit, Randy loved challenging friends and family to games. He brought excitement and wit to everything he played, whether it was golf, dominoes, billiards or poker. Even in his last game of golf, he made a 20-foot putt to save par.
There is no doubt that Randy had an abundant love for his family. We give thanks and glory to God for peace and comfort during our loss of a very loving father, Popee, brother and uncle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fisher House Foundation (www.fisherhouse.org) or Happy Endings Dog Rescue (516 N. Hewitt Dr. Hewitt, TX 76643).
