Paul R. Piña, Sr., 68, of Waco, passed away on November 3, 2021. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N. Robinson Dr., Waco. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 at 10 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Rex Bland officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Prairie Hill Cemetery, 5152 N FM 339, Prairie Hill, TX.
Paul R. Piña was born in Waco, TX on July 4, 1953 to Felix Piña, Sr. and Trinidad Rodriguez. He attended La Vega schools and upon graduating, married his elementary school sweetheart, Karlene McClinton on May 5, 1973. Shortly after, they moved the family to Oklahoma where he was stationed after enlisting into the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1976 and returned to Waco with his family. He began a career working in I.T. at Montgomery Wards before leaving to serve the residents of Bellmead by working as a water operator for the water department for fifteen years. He also served as a volunteer fire fighter and took great joy in working as a ranch hand at Piña Land & Cattle with his brother and nephew before joining his sons at Cornerstone Plumbing, where he was the patriarch of the business.
Paul was a faithful Christian, devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was a patient and compassionate man who helped anyone and everyone in need.
Paul is preceded in death by his father, Felix Piña, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Trinidad and Sipriano Salinas; his beloved wife of thirty-five years, Karlene Marie Piña; sister, Rosie Yost; brothers, Felix Piña I, Felix Piña, Jr., and sister, Mary Mata.
Paul is survived by his children, Jeremy and wife, Gloria, Jason and wife, Andrea, Paul Jr. and wife, Noemi all of Waco; grandchildren, Abigal, Jason Jr. and wife, Dani, Joshua and wife, Julissa, Matthew and wife, Brittany, Angel, Paul III, Trinity, Gideon; and nine great-grandchildren.
Paul also leaves behind his brothers, Manuel Piña, Tom Piña and wife, Cheryl; sisters, Linda Piña-Lipe and husband, Jerry, Julie Johnson and husband, Jerry, Rita Gonzales and husband, Bill; step-siblings, Wally Salinas and wife, Clara, Santo Salinas and wife, Anna, Raymond Salinas and wife, Sylvia, Mary Liendo, Gloria Gomez, Janie Foster and husband, Gary, Margaret Felan and husband, Tony; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, two of which he had a special relationship with: Anthony Piña and Robert Fraga.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jason Jr., Joshua, Matthew, Paul III, Gideon, and nephew, Robert Fraga.
