Patsy Lou Ann Childs (Pat) went to be with our maker on August 28, 2014 due to complications from side effects of medicine.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, September 6 at 12 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive.
Pat was born Patsy Lou Ann Severs on August 20, 1943 to John M. Severs and Eula Severs. She grew up in Bryan, Texas and when she was 13 years old her family moved to Denver, Colorado. There she met her 1st husband James Grady Knapp. They had a bouncing baby girl named Victoria Lou Knapp. She and ‘Jim’ divorced in 1965. In January of 1966 she met Richard H. Childs. They were married on January 28, 1966 and then, just a little over a year later, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Sandra Kristine Childs. At 32, surprise, surprise…she gave birth to a handsome baby boy, John Lynnwood Childs.
Pat was a league bowler and managed the grill at Lake Air Lanes for several years. There she met many friends. She was also an avid CBer and met many great people through CBing and CB parties, including Fred Knight. Richard and Pat owned 4 bars. They were the last owners of PK’s and the other 3 were all named Family Tradition. Through these bars Pat met even more people she grew to love. They will all recall that she was warm hearted and loving and usually had a kind word and a soft shoulder for everyone. She always had an open door policy for anyone who needed her. She was hard headed at times and the advice she gave was what she thought was right at the time.
After a long bout with several medical problems, Pat lost the love of her life on August 5, 2013. She was lost without him and struggled living without him. She hated living alone. She moved into the Cottages at Oak Springs where she would eventually begin to participate in games nearly every single day.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, John M. and Eula Severs; her husband, Richard H. Childs; and her grandson, Aaron Leslie Ludwig.
She is survived by her daughters, Victoria Lou White and Sandra Kristine Galvez and husband, Perry; son, John Lynnwood Childs and wife Katy; Richard’s daughters, Kathleen Johnson and Kelly Halewyn; grandchildren, Latricia Fouse and finance Christopher Gutierrez, Brittany Ludwig and fiancé Brandon Glass, Jesse Fouse, Kimberly Ludwig and boyfriend Aaron Garcia, Breanna Sawyer, Ashley King, Austin Childs, Stormy Sanders, Meygan Galvez, Alyssa Galvez and fiancé Jason Green; and great-grandbabies, Aveah, Jeremiah, Jace and McKinley.
