Life is not simply the day we are born and the day we leave this world; rather, it is lived in the time in between those two moments. Pam truly lived a full life. Once she was diagnosed with cancer several years ago, Pamela “Pam” Ann Kemp never gave up. She never complained, maintaining a brave and cheerful outlook of an optimistic future – even through countless radiation and chemotherapy treatments, X-rays, hospitalizations and pain. She continued to remain active on her job and in the lives of her beloved grandchildren. She died peacefully in her sleep, at home, on May 18, 2015, surrounded by her children, family, and loved ones.
Filled with compassion and interest in others, Pam made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She never met a stranger nor made an enemy, bringing a smile to the hearts of all she met. Before her illness, Pam was a competitive body builder, avid race car driver, and an energetic grandmother, aunt, and cherished confidant. She loved being outdoors, working in the yard, fishing and camping.
Pam was preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Melvin Kemp, Sr. She is survived by her son, Thomas “TJ” Smith, Jr., and daughter, Michele (Cliff) Marion. She also leaves behind her honored step children, Melvin Kemp, Jr., John Kemp, and Angela Kemp, her father, Henry Mouton, her brothers, Daniel Mouton of Waco and Steven (Margret) Mouton of Austin, a dear sister, Denise (David) Spicak of Waco, and many cherished grandchildren, Gabriella, Damiera, Kayvon, Keyshon, Daejah, and Destiny, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
Pam’s life will be celebrated in a small memorial service at Pecan Grove Funeral Home on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 2pm.
