Olga Mary Schlemmer, 100, of Hewitt, TX, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, TX, with Rev. Kevin Lentz officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, TX. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Olga was born February 22, 1922, to Fritz and Dell Kunkel and was educated at St. Paul. She married Edward Schlemmer on February 8, 1941; he preceded her in death April 24, 1999. After their children were in school, Olga went to work at Woods Mfg. in Waco, TX. She later went to work at the Fair Store in Lott where she met a lot of great people that she enjoyed visiting with while selling all kinds of western clothing.
Olga was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Charles Kunkel; and sisters, Selma Pick, Alice Kunkel, Viola Jund and Doris Banas.
She is survived by her sons, James Schlemmer and wife Claudia, Larry Schlemmer and wife Debbie all of Hewitt; daughter, Joyce Wells and husband Wayne of McGregor; sister, Verneta Grohoske of McGregor; three grandchildren, Randy Broughton and wife Rhonda of McGregor, Jason Coffee of Mexia, Julie Schlemmer of Cameron; and two great-granddaughters, Mandy Broughton of McGregor and Micah Broughton of Waco; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Olga was a faithful member of the Lott Methodist Church while living in Lott even driving back to Lott for Sunday morning service with a friend after moving to Hewitt. After the passing of her friend, she became a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Woodway on Nov. 14, 2010.
