Norman Wesley “Pete” Tindell, 81, of Lorena, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at his home. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Waco, with Jerry Walters officiating. Visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco.
Pete was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Spring Valley, Texas, to Frank Wesley and Myra Warren Tindell. The family later moved to Lorena where he played football, basketball, softball, and ran track before he graduated. He was an avid sportsman that enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Lady Baylor Bears Basketball.
Pete married Gwen Salter in 1952 and had his girl Patti. In 1953 he went to work at Waco Automotive Supply and later bought the company. He worked at Modern Auto until his retirement in 2003.
Pete is survived by his wife, Gwen Salter Tindell; daughter Patti Tate of Lorena; his grandson Jason Wesley Tate; his great-granddaughter Savanna Tate of Katy, Tx; sisters Dathene Crump of Waco, Tx, Martha Tindell of Bruceville, Tx, Edith Meador and husband Bobby of Lorena Tx; brother David Tindell and wife Stella of Wells, Tx; a large number of nieces, nephews, extended family through the marriage, and people he came into contact with and who became much loved by him.
