Nelta Janette Spillar

Nelta Janette (Pursley) Spillar, age 85, of Waco passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17th at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Bob Rainey officiating. There will be a visitation 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.

Nelta was born June 19, 1939 to Luther and Claudie (Sumblin) Pursley in Cottonwood, Texas. She grew up in Penelope, Texas where she graduated from high school. She married Thomas Spillar on October 30, 1967 and they were married 53 years until his death in 2021. She loved to travel, especially to the casinos but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She spent the majority of her career working at Financial Control Services, where she retired twice. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and son, Dale Wallace; sister, Mary Lou Peterson.

Nelta is survived by her sons, Mark and Michael Wallace; grandchildren, Branden Johnson and wife Miriam, Melanie Wallace and partner Johnny, and Skylar Wallace; her great grandchildren, Lucas Lykins and Hayden Gassaway; along with several nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.
