Nancy (Losak) Dancer and Steven Dancer

Nancy Dancer spent her final days here on earth at home with family in Sanger, TX before joining her late husband Steve Dancer in Heaven on October 3, 2024. She was born March 31,1942 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, McLennan County, TX to Johnny R. Losak and Mary Elizabeth Maynard Losak. Her childhood was spent on the family farm where they raised broilers, cattle and baled hay.

Nancy was a 1960 graduate of Lorena High School. She first married Kenneth James Maxwell and had two children, James Michael & Michelle Rene. Later, she married Steven Mark Dancer in 1982 and was embraced by his two daughters Vivian Vaughn and Sheila Mathena. Nancy worked for First Bank of Richardson and then worked for TXU in the Irving Call Center for 26 years until she retired in 2004.

Nancy enjoyed sewing, water sports, fishing and traveling with friends. She & Steven enjoyed retirement with a full social life and their Schnauzers. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Johnny R. Losak and Mary Elizabeth Maynard Losak, brothers John Robert (Bobby) Losak & William (Bill) Maynard Losak and her husband Steven Mark Dancer.

She is survived by son Michael & wife Alice, daughter Michelle and husband Jeff, stepdaughters Sheila & Vivian, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She loved you all dearly.

Memorial visitation for both Nancy and Steven Dancer is Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, TX 76706 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Steven Mark Dancer, age 78 of McKinney, TX, went to be with Jesus on November 21, 2020. 

Steve was born in San Diego, CA to Elmer & Ada Josephine Dancer, and was fifth in line out of nine children. He was the only one of the nine children to be born in a hospital. As a boy, he helped with the family farm and attended Boswell schools before graduating and joining the Navy where he served on board the USS Elokomin as a boiler technician.

Trident Metals in Richardson, TX is where Steve built his career and worked with his brother Don and his nephews Terry Don & Doug until his retirement in 2004. Steve first met Nancy Lou Losak flirting in traffic on Highway 75 during commutes to work. After a short courtship they married on June 12,1982 in McKinney, TX. They lived in McKinney and shared a wonderful life together. For hobbies, he enjoyed boating, fishing, casinos, hunting, traveling with friends and cooking. He was an especially good cook & loved spoiling his beloved wife Nancy. The family joke is that Steve was known for taking their car or truck in for an oil change only to come home with a brand new vehicle. He had an appreciation for nice things in life.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Elmer & Ada Jo Dancer, daughter JoAnn Dancer, sister, June Triplett of McKinney, TX and Joyce Dancer.

He was survived by siblings Don Dancer of Allen, TX, Audis (Sonny) Dancer of Powderly, TX, Darvis Dancer and wife Carla of Bennington, OK, Euvon Wages and husband Charles of Moore, OK, Chloie Jones of Boswell, OK, Gayle Hall and husband Dennis of Durant, OK, and survived by his daughters Vivian Vaughn of Durant, OK and Sheila Mathena of Grandy, NC and by stepson Michael Maxwell and wife Alice of Robinson, TX, and stepdaughter Michelle Rupe and husband Jeff of Sanger, TX along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren
