Myrtle Maxine Ellett Ramsey better known as Mutt Ramsey, 87, of Perry, Texas went home to see Jesus Saturday, February 25, 2017. She died at home surrounded by her friends and family after a brave battle against breast cancer. Services will be at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124, Robinson Dr. at 10 am, on Tuesday, February 28, with Bro. Jimmy Adams and Pastor Ralph Richard Officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Her family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm, Monday, February 27, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Mutt was born in the community of Battle, Texas, on August 10, 1929, to Alfonzo Jackson Ellett and Velma Eugene Nixon Ellett. After her graduation from Waco High School, she worked in the Waco area all of her life. After 24 years at Owens Illinois Glass Plant, she retired to stay home and spend more time with her family. After her husband's death in 1998, she started a new career as a grief counselor at Pecan Grove Funeral Home where she worked for 14 years. She retired in December, 2015, at the age of 86.
Mutt married R Lee Ramsey on June 26, 1948. They lived and worked in the Waco area until 1965 when they moved to Marlin, Texas. In 1970, they moved to the community of Perry, Texas where she lived until her death.
Mutt was a long time member of Calvary Bellmead Baptist Church which has been renamed Greater Waco Baptist Church. She spent many years teaching Sunday school to all age groups from first grade up to the "Huggin' Class" which is the one she presently teaches. She will be greatly missed by her church family.
Mutt is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Lee Ramsey; her parents, a brother RV Ellett, and two sisters Ruby Row and Sybil Erickson.
Mutt is survived by her sister Sue Ramsey and husband Jim; her son, Randall Lane Ramsey and wife
Brandy of Suwanee, Georgia; three daughters Sharon Ann Ramsey Dueitt of Humble, Texas; Patricia Ray Ramsey Goodwyn and husband Bill of Waco, Texas; and Gloria Sue Ramsey Nehring of Perry, Texas; nine grandchildren: Lori, Michelle, Roy, Stephanie, Terri, Tammie, Tanya, Jaime, and Buck; 15 great-grandchildren: Hannah, Lance, Mattie, Nathan, Michaela, John, Lynzee, Charlie, Jimmy, Meghan, Abby, Courtny, Stevie, Hunter, and Hudson; two great-great grandsons: Carson and Logan and many nephews and nieces.
