Morris Wayne Harper Jr.

January 24, 1968 — July 22, 2022

Morris (Wayne) Harper, Jr, 54, of Lorena, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on July 22, 2022. Visitation with family will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 am on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the Ashcraft home 216 E. Newland in Robinson. A private memorial service will be held on a later date.

Wayne was born on January 24,1968 in Waco to Morris Wayne Harper, Sr and Janie Hurst Harper. He attended Robinson ISD and after completing high school, attended TSTC. He lived in Lorena with the love of his life, Janet Wells Harper, whom he married on August 31, 1996. He worked on the family farm and for many years in the family tire business. He was both a skilled mechanic and carpenter and used those talents to repair farm implements and provide for his family. Wayne shared that although he was not ready for his life on earth to end, he was at peace knowing he would be with the Lord. Janet faithfully cared for Wayne and was at his bedside as he transitioned to his Heavenly home.

Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to fish with his son, Johnathon. He shared his gift and love of country music, often accompanied by his daughter, Ashtin. He grew to appreciate time spent with friends and family celebrating holidays and birthdays, especially those of his grandchildren who fondly referred to him as Pappy. He and Janet would travel to visit Johnathon at college and end up at the coast fishing and creating fond memories together. Recently, they had to make room for a new companion, their grand dog, Deets, who quickly became a source of joy.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Morris Wayne Harper Sr. He is survived by his mother, Janie Hurst Harper, his devoted wife Janet Wells Harper, their children Tiffany Colson and husband James, Ashtin Nikole Harper and Johnathon Robert Harper, his brother Troy Reid and wife Alicia of Robinson, sister Karen Harper Ashcraft and husband Tony of Robinson, grandchildren Harleen and James Dean Colson, Memphis Harper and Kellie Bolden.

Honorary pall bearers are brother-in-law and close friend Dempsey Wells, cousin and hunting/fishing buddy Jim Hurst, close childhood friend and employer Charles Ray Krumnow, and close friend and partner in mischief Ronnie Frazier.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Donald (Buck) Cross at Waco Cardiology, the care team at Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin and all who have offered prayers, support and comfort during this difficult time.
