Miriam A. West, 90, of Chilton, passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at First Baptist Church Chilton with Pastor Truett Newton officiating. Burial will follow at Chilton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 2, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco, Texas.
Miriam was born on Oct. 22, 1932 in Temple, Texas, to Martin and Annie Bell (Jennings) Harmel. She married Carl A. West Sr. on Oct. 4, 1952, in Waco, and they celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing. Miriam worked for Dana Corporation before retiring with 18 years of service. Her greatest joy was her family and her church. She enjoyed canning, doing arts and crafts, and watching the Hagees.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Evelyn Cogle and Twila Harris; three grandchildren; and one brother.
She is survived by her children, Shirley Pack of Waco, Kay Hatley (Joe) of Belton, Wesley D. Robinson (Patty) of Pflugerville, Carl A. West Jr. (Wendy) of Azle, Miaya Parker (Marshall) of Sanger and Candace Hall (Rodney) of Chilton; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Peggy Harmel of Arizona; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Andy Parsons III, Thomas Harris Jr., Nathan Pack, Justin West, Brenton Hall and Dillan Ford.
