Michael Slagel

Michael LeRoy Slagel Sr. 68, of Waco, passed away, Friday, March 3, 2017. Services will be 1 pm, Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. with Pastor Jim Price officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, March 8, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

Mike was born January 19, 1949 in Fort Knox, Kentucky to Allen and Margaret Slagel. He married Brenda Edge Garcia on March 24, 1989. Mike served in Vietnam as an Army Ranger. After Vietnam, he received his business degree and started his own roofing company. Then he found his true calling for driving truck where he later retired from Conway in 2011. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan. He enjoyed golfing, camping, playing guitar, telling stories and shooting guns. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and caring for his Granddaughter Shyanne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Julian Michael Slagel, and great-niece Hope O'neil.

He is survived by his wife Brenda. Children Michael Junior Slagel, Angela Slagel, Jeri Lou Slagel, Tonya Greenia, Brian Slagel, Melissa Slagel, Daren (Kassie) Slagel. Stepchildren David Walker, Misty Garcia and Carlos Garcia. Brothers John (Mary) Slagel, Larry (Brenda) Slagel, Jerry (Blanche) Slagel. Sisters Kathy O'neil, Charlotte Slagel, Marlene Slagel and Darlene Slagel. Grandchildren (36) great-grandchildren (13) and several nieces and nephews.
