Michael Ray Brunson, Sr., 76, of Lorena, TX, passed away surrounded by family on March 6, 2024. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024, 10:00 am at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Pastor Roger West officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, March 11, 2024 from 6-8 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 N Robinson Dr. Waco, TX.
Michael was born September 2, 1947, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Daniel and Donna (Anderson) Brunson. He was one of ten children. Michael served in the US Navy as a petty officer 2nd class engineman, during Vietnam. He married Brenda Kay Shamblin on June 28, 1975. He worked at Sears Automotive, retiring after 32 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #24. Michael enjoyed spending time in his shop, working on cars, playing golf, fishing, skiing, bowling, and camping. He was a simple man who was kindhearted and loved the Lord. He was a faithful member of Trinity Fellowship in McGregor. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Donna Brunson, his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Summers, brothers, Steve Brunson, and Dale Brunson; brother-in-law, Eddie Zuleger; and father-in-law, Bert Shamblin.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Brunson; children, Michael Brunson, Jr. and wife Jessica, Dillon Brunson, Lauren Kress, Abigail Dudley and Taylor Dudley, daughter, Stephanie Hyde and husband, Mike, Kestin Arnet, Harlie Hyde, Cody Hyde, Heather Hollingsworth, and Tyler Hyde, daughter Wendy Campbell and husband Jeff, Jakob Campbell, Madison Campbell, Tanner Campbell, and Bailey Campbell; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry Brunson and wife Pat, Joe Brunson and wife Charlie; sisters, Susan Looney and husband Don, Cindy Zuleger; Danette Brunson; and Robin Brunson; mother-in-law, Bernice Shamblin; and sister-in-law, Brenda Brunson, many nieces and nephew.
Mike was a wonderful husband, daddy, and papa. He was greatly loved and will forever be missed.
