Mel Hoffman, 85, passed away May 9, 2014, at his home in Rosenthal, Texas. A memorial service will be 10am Saturday, May 17, at Crestview Church of Christ in Waco. The family requests that attendees wear purple and gold, green and gold, or blue and silver to celebrate Mel’s love for Mart Panthers, Baylor Bears and Dallas Cowboys.
Mel was born on March 20, 1929, in Belton, Texas, to Richard and Myrtle Hoffman. He graduated from Texas School for the Deaf where he excelled in all sports. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat McBride Hoffman, his parents, and brother, Kenneth Hoffman.
He is survived by his loving children, daughter, Tammie and husband, Kelly Buford, of Tuscola; sons, Teddy Hoffman and wife Rachel, of West, and Kevin Hoffman, and wife Jerry, of Rosenthal. Other survivors include his granddaughters, Presley, Hadley and Reaghan Hoffman, sister, Sandra Lightfoot, sisters-in-law, Coy Ellen Barber and Barbara McBride-Smith and brother-in-law, Dennis Smith.
