Maxcell Mason Renfro, 89, of Robinson, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, with Pastor Mike Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors 6 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, at the funeral home.
Max was born July 22, 1926, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He married Janie Lou Dunwody on Nov. 14, 1946, at 3rd Street Baptist Church in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Franklin Renfro and Zephie Elizabeth Smith (Renfro); daughter Jessie Lynn; and his wife Janie. He is survived by his sisters, Francis Oxner and Winphra Schaeper; his children Melissa Woodyard, Larry Renfro and Greg Renfro; his grandchildren Daniel, Greg, Haley, Jacob, Audrey; and great grandchildren Sam and Ethan.
Max was in the U.S. Army Air Corp. from 1944 until 1946. He went to aircraft mechanic training school and went to work as a mechanic at Trans Texas Airways. Forty years later he retired from Continental Airlines as Senior Director of Reliability Programs. He was a member of Robinson Chamber of Commerce and Robinson Lion’s Club. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Robinson and he loved going to his Sunday school class.
Max served on the Robinson City Council one year, was mayor two years and City Administrator for six months.
