Mary Edna (Winn) Carlisle was born January 10, 1925 in Seale-Round Prairie (Marquez), Texas to Julian and Bessie Winn. She attended Marquez schools and then graduated from Franklin High School in 1942. She married Herbert Carlisle on Friday, September 13, 1946 and were married 57 years when he passed away. She said Friday the 13th was always special to her no matter what month.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Bessie Winn; her husband, Herbert and a sister, Jeneal Lindsey. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Eddie Robertson of Hewitt; two grandsons, Jeffrey Robertson and wife Heather and Jason Robertson and fiancée Desiree. She had five great-grandchildren who loved being with her playing all sorts of games buying her groceries and just having fun, Sara Robertson, Peyton Robertson, Caleb Robertson, Riley Robertson and Karleigh Robertson. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and were her treasures on earth. She was also blessed with extended family, Daryl and Kaye Votaw and Ronnie and Patty Jones, Florence Black, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also had a host of special friends who she loved dearly.
Edna was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church for 40 years, where she served as a greeter, hospitality committee, nursery worker and loved to visit over the years with Herbert. In her later years she was not able to drive to visit but she had her phone always handy to check on people. She always met you with a smile and hug and how are you doing. She loved people and the people loved her. She was a loving and caring friend. She was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church at her passing. Her love for her Lord never ceased no matter her circumstances. She was a dedicated prayer warrior. If you needed a prayer partner she was always there, all you had to do is call her. She was proud to be a part of our family but more importantly to be a child of God. If she felt bad you might never even know it by talking with her because she would always try to act fine as she was more concerned for you than herself. She loved playing practical jokes on her friends and family on April Fools, as most you of you have seen that side of her. She never met a stranger because once you met her and said hi, that was it, you were her friend.
Special thanks to Bro Harley and Betty the rest of her church family’s faithfulness to visit at home, hospital, and nursing home. She looked so forward to those visits. They would talk, laugh and then pray. What a time of celebration it always was for her!
We know now she is resting in Jesus’ arms and visiting with all that have gone before her. What a reunion that must be in heaven today!!! What stories they are sharing!
