Marvin E. Jacobs, age 89, who lived in Waco, TX, passed away in his home after succumbing to bladder cancer on Tuesday, January 12th, 2021. He was born August 9th, 1931 in Rodney, OH.
He was the son of Henry E. Jacobs and Verna C. Wilson Jacobs. Marvin served 4 years in the US Navy, as a Navigation Trainer at Patuxent River NAS. He went on to attend Harding College, earning a BS in Math, Science, and Biblical languages. He was married on August 20, 1957, to Margaret Long Jacobs, up until her demise, for 56 years.
After college, he started teaching school. He was later offered an opportunity to become a full-time minister for the West Ave. church of Christ in Ashtabula, OH, where he served for 35 years. He loved auto mechanics, fishing, hunting, playing the mandolin, and wood working. However, His deepest compassion was teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus.
Marvin was a dedicated husband and father. He loved God and was a servant of Christ for the majority of his life. He was a devoted minister, always willing to help those in need.
He is preceded in death by father, Henry; mother, Verna; brother, James; brother, Charles; sister, Shirley; and wife, Margaret Long Jacobs.
He is survived by daughter, Gretchen Abston and husband Darryl; son, Michael Jacobs and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Jared, Chance, Justin, Wesley and Megan, and 6 great-grandchildren.
