Marvin Leroy Bourque Sr. 88 of Robinson, Texas passed away in his home, surrounded by his loving family on September 16, 2023. Marvin was born in Jefferson Island, New Iberia, LA. on August 6,1935 to Katherine and Octa Bourque. He served in the US. Army, US. Marines and retired from the US. Navy. During Marvin’s career in the service, he served primarily in the medical field, in 1963 while serving in Oakland California, he built prosthetics for wounded servicemen. In his later years, he worked as a hospital corpsman at Naval Base in Grand Prairie, Texas. Marvin served from September 1953 - July 1976. He graduated from Angelina College in 1979 and earned his degree as a RN.
Marvin married Frankie in October 1956 and together they had 8 children combined, Katherine, Terry, Ted, Marvin Jr., Dianne and Carolyn, Linda, Verna. Marvin moved to Waco Texas in 1979 and worked at the VA. Hospital as a psychiatric nurse, from 1979 -1990, where he retired. Marvin was a proud father and grandfather. Who loved his family dearly. He was always ready to tell his dad jokes and to make someone laugh. He loved listening to music but mainly loved the oldies, gospel hymns and even occasional Cajun tune from his childhood. He also loved taking his kids and grandchildren on trips and spending time with his family. Through his battles with dementia he always managed to remember his family, he remained kind hearted and always had a warm smile. Marvin’s love for his wife Frankie, never faltered, every night he would hold her hand, as they would fall to sleep together.
Marvin is survived by Frankie his wife of 67 years, daughter's Katherine Daily, Terry Dobbs, Dianne Dobbs, Carolyn Weaver, Linda Durbin and sons Ted Bourque, Marvin Bourque Jr. and 29 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 28 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters Ann Milsap, Clarisa Ledet and was predeceased in death by his parents Octa and Katherine Bourque, daughter, Verna Drake. Grandchildren, Robin Dobbs and Teddy Joe Bourque Jr.
