The joyful soul of Martha Annette Howard, age 57, was called home on June 28, 2013 after a brave battle with kidney cancer. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 6, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.
Martha was born in Waco on July 27, 1955 to Kermit and Robbie Lee Pilant. She graduated from Connally High School. In 1978, she began a long and successful career with Harland Clarke until her medical retirement in 2012.
Martha lived her life with refreshing simplicity. Her upbeat personality and her positive attitude never wavered even as she faced kidney cancer. The cancer robbed her of her health but it could not touch her spirit and her jubilant zest for life.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ricky Pilant.
Left to cherish Martha’s memory is her best friend of 24 years, Kris Turski; brother, Don Pilant and wife, Willie; niece, Donna Pilant; nephew, Tom Pilant; aunt, Jo Veta Quinn; cousins and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
