Mark was born on May 6, 1960 in Houston (Springbranch), TX to Geraldine “Gerry” and Raymond Deen Brown. He graduated from Waco High School in 1978, going on to North Texas University in Denton, TX. As a freshman he tried out on the trombone and was accepted into the 2:00 Stage Band program. He married Holly Richardson in 1986, from that union came Sara Jane Folsom (Smith). He married his late wife Michele Evans in 1994, from that union he received his stepdaughters Hiya Guffey (Evans), Simenthia Evans and Alisha Evans.
Mark was a very talented musician, playing the trombone for over 30 years. He played in bands in McLennan County and surrounding areas going as far as Houston, Dallas and Austin to play gigs. He was featured on two trombone special arrangements which were presented at most performances—“You light up my life” and “Getting sentimental over you” Tommy Dorsey’s theme song.
Bill Haskett was his long time trombone teacher at MCC. Dennis Hopkins was his highly respected high school band director. The band was in contests throughout Texas and Louisiana. His family always enjoyed going to his gigs and listening to him play.
He was also a gifted Auto Mechanic working and managing in the field for over 30 years. Mark was a beloved father, brother and son. He will be deeply missed every day. Now he has eternal peace. His family is secure in the knowledge that he is with our Lord now for eternity. If given the opportunity he will be playing a golden trombone for all to enjoy in Heaven.
